Best Friend Poem by Wilfred Mellers

Best Friend

My Best Friend

Written by: Wilfred Mellers, Thursday, April 8,2010, @ 9: 40 PM

I once had a reason, but now we no longer share those reasons. I couldn't figure out what was worth fighting for. Do I still worship her? Yes, I am sure.

Here's the plain truth: in America, I wasted my youth. I can't find any incentives to return at all; here, I can finally stand tall.

I grew tired of being in a pack. There's nothing left to draw me back. I will come back, but not just yet; my mind is fluid and not truly set.

This is all I can share, so I hope all is well. My true friends are what my mind dwells on. Spinning my wheels was never smart; loved ones will always hold a place in my heart.

All my friends, I miss you so much. My fondness for you is greater than you'll ever know. You've changed my frown into a smile; you've made my existence worthwhile.

God placed you in my life for a special reason. You have helped me weather my worst season. I say this without any reservations: you will hold my greatest admiration.

There aren't many I can call friends. You are truly an angel and a godsend. You were there when I felt like dying; your concern taught me to keep trying.

Thank you for making me glad. You cared when no one else did. You are my best friend; I think of you often. You, my colleagues, are the ones I love.

True friends, I've found—that's a treasure. No matter the distance, I will always be around. In an ocean of tears, I'll never let you drown. I will be your life preserver; I'll never let you down.
