Benedictus Poem by Hannington Mumo

Benedictus

Your stout faith will serve you through the storm
When all other shallow hopes diffuse out of form,
As wavering loves their shining hypocrisies shed,
When even best friends are by ulterior interests led.

Your truly unflinching resolve shall well outlast
That common despair's most stubborn attacks.
It'll show the sheer immutability of your willpower,
Your defying the hurdles that break hundred backs.

Your unceasing toil amidst falling returns
Will pay while every sluggard's heart burns,
Whining over stoney Nature's unfeeling whims,
Chiding that caprice that waning fortunes dims.

Your gregarious charity shall reward
While every miser disconsolate cries,
Whilst every withheld penny flies away
To salvage the sufferer who lonely dies.

Your solid truthfulness will bestow health and life,
While every miscreant liar writhes in lawless strife.
