One faces a lot of difficulties at this stage of life. However, a wise person can realise the beauty of life through his or her acquired experiences and knowledge...a brilliant poem

It a life story. Old people wish they were still young, young people pray God to grant them long life to be old someday. But anytime I read Mr. Edwards, he is just a five year old kid with many years of experience. That's why he will never die, because we will read him forever.

Stop, Koffi, STOP! ! My wife sometimes says I'm 5 years old, but she's 70 years off in her estimate. NOW, if I could only go backwards all the way back to my childhood, my 1st one. I might skip the marriages.

You had a job where you had to worry about being fit? Were you a model? A star? An Actor (do they ever retire?)

Why, anais, you thought I was writing JUST about ME? ? ! Well, I had to be fit enough on my job, but I didn't wear makeup. ;) bri

I enjoyed this write, it reminded me of one I did some time ago called 'The perfect specimen' As we grow old we think of these things. I liked the flow of the poem its rhyme and the positive and negative aspects.

Clicked on the Five Stars icon and PH said I cannot vote because I already did. Ah well, you didn't mention memory fading out a bit being an issue so maybe it's just me!

Life after retirement is very leisurely. It's not easy to have a good day.

Great poem! I enjoyed it very much. I’m nearly 69, almost as OLD as you are, so I can empathize. Thanks for noticing the missing quotation marks. Yes, I did the wood cut as Mike King.

The poem is a a clear mirror of advantages and disadvantage of old age though a satire

I am over seventy and i agree with your advantages and disadvantages of being elderly. Being overweight is more of a problem for me now. My face is changing, going by what I see in the mirror. At least I am not the only one.

Yes, I guess 'not being the only one' could be SOME CONSOLATION. Perhaps one should share one's casket/burial chamber/funeral pyre with another? ? ?

Sally, I wish I felt I had the time to send you a message and to read one of your poems, but if you were 78 in 2018, you are PROBABLY DEAD now, so why should I bother? ? ? ? ?

The last line should be: Be happy and live till you die, -nilly. (Report)

Well done. Good humour. I totally agree with you. Live and let others live. Don't stay in anybody else’s way and you'll be safe and sound. Be happy and live till you die, - nilly.
