Before Your Time Poem by Kim Jones

Before Your Time

Rating: 4.5

I sit here as a child

watching the eyes that once smiled

blink out

Doubt

fills my mind

as I try to find a rhyme

that explains

this sadness ripping into me like rain

rips the sun

'Run! '

screams my mind,

trying to help me find a line

of thought to get me away

from this place of decay.

But I can't leave.

You're gone and I'm stuck here to grieve

until the sight

of you losing your life

fades away.

'No, please stay! '

I call to your memory

for I know I will never be

okay

and I need you to remain with me

for if you leave

I will have to be

my only friend,

again.

I sit here as a child

watching the eyes that once smiled

go out with the dawn

you once lived wild

but now you're gone.
