Before Blessings Were Sought Poem by Stephen Omolori

Before Blessings Were Sought

You asked me, "How deep am I in your heart? "
Picture an anchor on an ocean bed.
You asked, "Are we also going to grow apart? "
Picture a set of Siamese twins pronounced dead.
You asked me, "Would you leave when wrinkles come? "
Picture a child when his mum is kneading dough.
You asked, "Would you stay when fat becomes my chum? "
Picture politicians where public funds flow.
You asked me, "Are you going to cheat on me? "
Picture me Homered before other women.
You asked, "Would you hit me when we disagree? "
Picture a dolphin tearing off its own fin.
I've already given them a careful thought
Before the day your parents' blessings were sought.
