It is most a failure when a woman is failed...but a man that is dead cannot be killed...the man that kills does so to even up the relationship...he is not living inside...he is dead and searching just as a woman would only when a man does so he does so at the woman's expense ..and you have shown this nicely with your wording of resentment...
