Because I Dream Poem by Wilfred Mellers

Because I Dream

Rating: 5.0

Because I Dream

I am no fool,
You can ridicule,
Unreal as it seems,
Just because I dream.
Please don't wake me up,
Please don't disrupt.
So for goodness' sake,
Leave me until I wake.

My tendency leans toward fantasy.
Extend me this courtesy.
The world inside my head,
Fable books I once read.
Words you left unsaid,
Life hangs by a single thread.
I choose to dream of you instead;
In reality, I have fled.

I know it's not reality,
But I still dream of prosperity.
A life filled with disparity.
Yes, you say hilarity;
Consider impartiality.
You claim neutrality;
It needs no formality;
It's just my mentality.

So I dream of you and me,
Imagine how it could be.
I know it won't last,
But for now, I'm having a blast.
Whether it is what it is or what it's not,
To forget you, I cannot,
So I'm living in my dreams,
For all is never as it seems.
