You've painted a powerful picture of the unadulterated innocence of children. Focussed and factual. Thanks for sharing Sheryl.

A wonderful poem, Sheryl. Perhaps for adults, that communion with the inner child comes with a reset of the moral compass. This work goes on my favourites list.

I am living in Cape Town now, as well. Been on a lot of international travels and returned home recently.

Children are unspoilt and their innocence is a guide to adults who are trying to get back to their inner child and live in the present moment. A lovey poem and a very good poet's note that explains the great thoughts of the poem. Congrats, a good selection as members poem of the day.

Sheryl, you have so beautifully captured the innocence of children. Great poem. Truly worthy of Poem Of The Day. It inspired me to write this: Child In the innocence Of the young child Beauty is born Paradise found

A beautiful poem with a strong message. Everyone wants to go back to his childhood years of innocence. Wish our hearts should change to that of a child the world would be a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing and congrats.

Very correct. While growing up, we give up our innocence. The poem reminds us of its ill effects in our personal life as well as in the world outside. It is indeed a very heartfelt and thoughtful poem. Guide us to wisdom Bathe us in your childhood delight Forgive us little boy.... Unfreeze the cruelty of adults

And what comes to mind is Blake: To see a World in a Grain of Sand And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour. I tried to keep that in mind while writing about childhood
