Battle of the Self.
Sometimes I don't know if I am
a part of this world, or
floating above it,
always on the outside looking in.
As if this flesh of mine
needs to be ripped off
strip by strip.
A bit extreme I know. but,
the fantasy to be reborn
starting again from scratch.
The contemplation alone is exciting.
or, is that just replacing
the host that carries my spirit?
for the 'SELF' may not want to evolve.
What if the strong 'EGO' takes charge,
or if the ' WILL' of wastefulness leads
at the helm? .
What difference would it make?
to start anew, if, the same may be,
REPEATED.

Reading this poem, I was thinking of this ever present duality in our self. We have this ego that tends to be very loud and then we have the soul that should be our guide, but who is speaking to us so extremely softly. I wrote a small poem on that, why is my soul so quiet. I do not have an answer but the battle between soul and ego is something ever interesting and so much food for thought.
Ahhh....I know that floating above feeling so well. As if you are here, but so very detached. Almost a breath could let you go. The self-regeneration idea is vivid and creative, and the struggle with self and ego is an intriguing one to consider. I must agree whole-heartedly with Judy, that your writing is taking on deeper and deeper shades of brilliance. Keep it up! ! :) S
