Be careful where you put your foot
For chickens don't care when they take a toot
But leave a rememberance everywhere
With which with you they wish to share.
It's a small nuisance to pay
For the eggs you expect every day
But why the roosters seem to be
Creators of the most for you to see
Remains a mystery known only to them
Who claim the right to be a special 'him.'
Perhaps crowing a lot
Is their way of drawing attention to the spot
Where they have placed for your shoes
The payment for the corn in barn-lot dues.
