Bang Bang Poem by April Humason

Bang Bang

Once we had fun, oh, what a time it was,
Until you bought that gun, and things got rough.
Running from the law, it all came undone,
Oh, how I wish we could go back, my love.

I yearn to rewind, erase the gossip's sway,
That fateful day it blew up, the price we pay.

Bang, I heard that sound,
A distant clang echoed all around.
Bang, the world turned cold,
In darkness, we both lost our hold.
Bang bang clang.

A gun in hand, life's joy couldn't shine,
Caught in a cycle, like a rewinding line.
Undoing the past, oh, if only I'd known,
The damage we'd cause, the seeds we'd sown.

But now I see through the lies you've spun,
Hidden in your eyes, a web tightly spun.

Bang, I heard that sound,
A distant clang echoed all around.
Bang, the world turned cold,
In darkness, we both lost our hold.
Bang bang clang.

Once you were mine, forever, we'd say,
But you chose a path that led you astray.
I'm left here, questioning why you'd decide,
To leave me behind, alone to abide.

Bang, I heard that sound,
A distant clang echoed all around.
Bang, the world turned cold,
In darkness, we both lost our hold.
Bang bang clang.

Leaving me in pain, heart heavy like lead,
Now I speak in slang, trying to mend what's been bled.
Bang, I heard that sound,
A distant clang echoed all around.
Bang, the echoes remain,
As I grieve, whispering your name.
Bang bang clang.
