Banana Lake Poem by Kelly Boutin

Banana Lake

You used to paddle a Raspberry boat
On the Strawberry sea
Now you have a Blueberry truck
With 4 Blackberry wheels
I used to hold you by the lake
Whenever the Banana Birds floated
We used to laugh back in the days
When I could just sit and hold you

We used to, only in a dream
I have never known you
We used to sit beside the stream
And pick clovers
But memory fades like yesterday's sun
On today's rain clouds
And my eyes open and my heart jumps
Into the Banana Lake

I feel like you died but I know you'll return
In the Banana Tides
Because deep in me the fire burns
That keeps both of us alive
Because inside my chest my heart yearns
For your Melancholy Eyes
Oh let me go and fall asleep
And bring us both back
Let me take you to the stream
Where I held your hands

I am trapped inside a dream
Where I cannot find you
Reality, please leave
You are a nightmare
Loose me into the Banana Stream
To the Creamsicle Moon
Carry my pain to the other side
Of the Banana Shore
Take me back to the Banana Lake
Where I have left my heart

We used to paddle in a boat
On the Banana Sea
We used to think we used to know
What the tide would bring
But now I'm lost in the course
Of the Banana Waves
Oh Baby, come and join me
In the Banana Lake
