Ballad 5 Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Ballad 5

Rating: 5.0

Goya’s wish vaults high to walk along harvest load
when Love acknowledges the sapphires they hold
why trails her ambition in the breaking dawn?
hers is the sweetest, softest verse they muse upon

surely in searching, Abu Dhabi will never hide
and all they might bequeath in she will bide
than those who stand to guard the windows of pain
to fix a bit of fate where Freedom has lain

of Watsonia's vast endurance of place and space
she pushes past the last guide rhyme to press
this said, the Heart spoke a long wonderful word
of some purple dew, the hurrying crowd then heard

these half real fountains, rubies that seem to stare
out through the oceanic battle for those who care
past all the stars that mark Dream's end and aim
with spirit more cautious and bless, the same
