Balā, Rabbana! ("Yes, Indeed, Our Lord! ") Poem by Mystic Qalandar

Balā, Rabbana! ("Yes, Indeed, Our Lord! ")

In silence alone,
the Divine Word resounds—
not through speech,
nor through sound,
but as a whisper behind the veil
of the ear's perception,
like a gentle Voice
speaking from within.

It is silence
that carries us to the One
who is beyond all utterance,
who listens—
though He remains unseen.

When we cease to speak,
the true power to hear awakens.
And when we pause,
a subtle melody begins to echo
deep within our being.

This is the melody
in which revelation descends soundlessly,
and we—
become prayer without words.

Seated in the lap of silence,
when the ears of the heart unfold,
the eye of insight beholds
that which cannot be seen.

It is He
who purifies the soul,
cleanses the heart,
and washes away
the illusions of oneness—
until we stand
as true monotheists.

Silence leads us back
to that sacred moment—
the Day of the Covenant—
when, before time began,
our Lord asked:
'Alastu bi Rabbikum? '
"Am I not your Lord? "

And we—
wrapped in the hush of awe,
gathered in primordial remembrance—
responded with surrender:
'Balā, Rabbana! '
"Yes, indeed, our Lord! "

That day,
He clothed us in two robes:
Lordship for Himself,
Servanthood for us—
that we might always know
who is the Master,
and who, the servant.

Even now,
He calls us
to listen deeply in silence,
to recognize our soul,
and in that recognition—
to truly know our Lord.
