WANG YUE YOU GAN:
Looking at The Moon with Emotions
-- by Bai Juyi (772-846)
-- Translated by Frank C Yue

Years of famine -- family fields bare, hard times ne'er cease,
And my brothers and I are scattered west and east.
After the fighting, green fields and gardens are few.
Dispers'd, my brothers hit the roads each day anew --
Like the hundred-miles-apart geese shadows remote,
Uprooted, in th' ninety-day Autumn air we float.
Together, tears should fall as we watch the bright Moon tonight --
Be united as one from five homesick spots, we might!
