We pick and choose, day after day,
Which path to walk, which words to say.
Some turns are bright, some dark and steep,
But all the journeys secrets keep.
Sometimes we slip, we stumble, fall,
Make choices that don't work at all.
That's okay, it's how we learn,
A wiser heart, at every turn.
As long as hurt stays far away,
From you and others, come what may.
Life's a book, with pages vast,
Each choice a chapter, fading fast.
To skip a page, to miss a line,
Leaves gaps where wisdom should combine.
So be yourself, in sun or rain,
Don't hide your heart, don't feel the strain.
To copy someone, play a part,
Is just a start to a broken heart.
Be true, be bold, be strong, be free,
The best of you, for all to see.
