WOW! What strikes me is the company I keep as a poet: I share space with gladiators at one extreme and alchemists at the other. This is like Yeats's Choice between possible lives. You don't tell me what these two roles entail, but I choose to join with the alchemists because they seek to transform the inner self, and I see that as poetry's ultimate goal
