'Perceived unawareness and limited view' - exactly the devils to cause such a miserable life. I think you have a very well defined perception yourself. At least in my view I see the younger generation so lacking in long term aspirations, wasting away life in fleeting moments. On the other hand, as an artist, I agree that living is indeed what it's all about. What is our work if not fleeting - mere words upon crumbling leaves. The difference I think is gusto - an inner drive to just do it. Very intuitive poem, and thoughts that I fear not truly realized by many until it is too late for a comfortable retirement.
