I'm crying I'm trying but the crowds
and the rooms have no faces
just voices and the noises
Jumbled up words
when the teacher is talking
it looks like I'm not listening
but I hear every sound
From a cough to a sneeze
from a scratch to a bang
overload of the brain
My hands and my fingers
will move on their own
I don't even realise
until I get shouted down
I wasn't fidgeting Miss
I think it helps my despair
I'm breaking I'm shaking
I need not be frightened
in a place that should be understanding
It's been to long since I read one of your poems Dave, it's fortuitous that I've found this one. This poem touches me in a very important way
Aw maybe she should be in special needs schools as here where we live they give special care and attention to autistic kids. This poem is great and expresses the situation awesomely. Kudos! !
My Grandson is autistic and non verbal. He's nearly 13 years old now. It's a frustrating world for them to accept. Thank you for sharing x
Thanks for the reply, the main stream schools need to be more understanding.

As a high functioning autistic person I understand some of the problems you and your daughter go through. When the education system And the society you belong to don't understand our challenges, it is a know one will ever know.
