Attabad Lake Poem by Ima Ryma

January, two thousand ten,
Attabad Lake did come to be,
Created by accident when
There was landslide calamity,
Blocking the Hunza River flow.
At least twenty people were killed
From all the flooding and also
Thousands lost homes as water filled.
The Pakistan authorities
Chose to leave the new lake as is,
Notwithstanding the tragedies.
The lake is good for tourist biz.

Life goes on at Attabad Lake.
