'At The Door Someone Was Knocking'

-- Frank C Yue

One evening after supper early,
My wife and I were sitting in the living room idly.
At the door someone was knocking.
O who would come a-visiting?

Opening the door, I looked left and right
In the still of the night.
Hello, there was no one at all!
Though Spider-Man could climb up the outer wall.

Now with us was someone playing a prank?
It couldn't be a woodpecker,
To be frank.
For the door was sheer metal.

We were somewhat in amazement.
For we lived in a condo apartment.
In life there're mysteries without end,
C'est la vie, my friend!
