At Home Poem by Abigail Hauschild

At Home

Take me home to the chaos
I'm drowning in these still waters
I need the rage and crash
Of angry waves
I need the irresistible pull of currents
Dragging me to something dark and mysterious
I can't breathe until the wind is whipping through my hair
I can't think until I hear thunder wail
The quiet is strangling my thoughts
I need the world to be falling apart
For my soul to feel recognized
Nothing feels quite as familiar
As destruction
