Ashes Remain Poem by Sven Rhoads

Ashes Remain

Rating: 5.0

I stand in this desolate field where the pyre once burned
A bond that could have been forged was not ready for its turn
So we tried to salvage what we had found
But this ship would soon run aground

Now there are no words, not even goodbye
Your compass pointed far away
Now only ashes remain where we did try
As we both go our separate ways

Now the moon is full tonight here with my thoughts
You've got a hand in yours as I walk into the dark
No bad blood for us to taste
Just silence when we see the others face

Though my loyalty remains with you my friend
Whenever you feel to come and call
I will stay right here in the end
I will never let you fall

What tomorrow brings we will never know
And in these ashes the dying embers glow
Shall we speak again only time will tell
Until the moment comes I wish you well

Up to the stars I saw that pyre burn
Maybe one day it'll be right for our turn
