As We Turn The Key Poem by Gary James Smith

As We Turn The Key

AS WE TURNED THE KEY

As we turned the key on yesterday
And leave that life behind
Still, it tries to force itself
To steal away our mind
But we're not subjected to the past
We have our new beginnings
And every soul that knows the Lord
Is on the side of winnings

For Christ can heal the brokenhearted
He gives more grace in grief
And stills the soul with 'peace be still'
I am your sure Relief!
And bonded such with Him we are
Who sticketh closer than any brother
And satisfaction for our lament
Could never be found in another

So here I am again O Lord
Standing in need of prayer
But knowing You my steadfast Hope
In the garment of faith, I wear
And clothed in Your fine Righteousness
Enjoyingforgiveness for my sin
I can wait upon You, Lord
Until I'm equipped to live again!
