a poet is a creator with words, many a hat he dons, to actually feel and write. but for this gift, he wouldn't be what he is... Mamta

as poets we are trying to reach as much of the public as we can but not with the intent to outdo each other. we are all individuals with different thoughts and forms of expression.

There lies the innate desire to be the whole, the expression of the real self in all of us, whatever be the area of life. CP

By our words we live; by our words we survive. It is wonderful just to be allowed to speak.10, of course. Warm regards, Sandra

You have made me think of the role I enroll - What demands my poem? Is it a inner desire simple and selfish or a wish to touch the soul of one who reads and gift a smile or give some hope to live! The visions brought to mind by poems read of poets great will endure each passing generation, the truth they say continues with their fame! You stand like the gaurdian angel with the torch in hand making us stop and think of life and the responsibilty it hands out with each role we enroll. Angel

In this field of poetry also there should be an element of luck, as all poets do not shine like wordsworth.

Samanyan, This is so true. Poets focus on different images to create poetry for others to share. They have more understanding of poetry too, as on this site we read so much poetry. Well written! 10 Karin Anderson

Truly said. Whatever be the role, the target should not be forgotten. We should be returning to the essence only. Poets like Wordworth, Shakespere - all great poets for that matter are real spiritual seekers and their poems reveal this fact. They might have taken different scenes from the multiplicity of life but all of them told the same truth in essence. That is what we have to absorb. That is why their pen outlives the times. For us Lake District or Hampsted Heath may be a far fetching possiblity but we too have our surroundings, our life, from which the same truth can be culled out. The essence of life- this is most important. The expression - we should not add water to dilute it. The rest is only a question of framework. For each one us, it can be a different framework.

There are so many ways a poets worlds can touch and allow other hearts relate to what they express.....the sorrow, the smiles of love...their own sacrifice...loss...and so much more....Poets save lives, more than most realise...its the words that are left behind....will continue to touch the souls of millions even when a poet dies.................wonderful penning Sam 10++

Yes we have many roles, and lots of stories to relate. As a child I learned to recite the Golden Daffodil poem, it was I think my only poem remembered. Now in later life, with more time to read and write and enjoy the last stanza, most: - 'For oft, when on my coach I lie In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils.' It is when we reflect on experiences had, lessons learned that we as poets give our best. Thank you for your lovely poem Samanyan, it put me in a pensive mood. It goes into my favourites so I can reflect again. Regards Bob 10++
