brilliant piece of writing.the hospital is a very awful place to be, its so full of negative energy.

life is too precious, and we only get one chance. its worth making all the changes. i should know, i have been there.

David, We tend to go on about our business, without realizing how fragile our lives really are. I'm saddned that you have had a series of mini-strokes, but I am greatful that they have pointed toward some lifestyle changes, which will hopefully keep you with us for many, many years to come! David, you have a lot of inner strength and a positive attitude to life. This will help in your fight with giving up smoking. I've just read Allie's comment and if Jerry can do it so can you. Sometimes we are forced to make massive changes to something we have been doing all our lives - not easy, I know, but necessary. You have the support of everyone on here, including me. Maybe you could inspire ME to do the same? Take it easy and I look forward to seeing your new poems but not until you are properly rested and well. Love, Fran xxx

David, Isn't if funny how life helps us make positive changes in our lives? I know Jerry stopped smoking when I was admitted to hospital with pneumonia about six years ago. He'd been smoking heavily since he was a kid and vowed he'd never give up - so life intervened and gave me pneumonia and Jerry found the motivation he needed to help him let go of a filthy and expensive habit - Cold turkey and without too much pain, too. I'm sure you can do it. Addiction is more habit than anything. Keep your fingers occupied on the keyboard - and don't get into lollies as a substitute either. David, I'm so sorry to hear you are in a hospital bed but happy that they discovered these little strokes before a the big one had a chance to manifest. I too was given a warning many years also and took heed and gave up the bad habit of smoking, yes it was difficult in the beginning but as the days went on it became easier and easier. You just say to yourself as you have done, my family is my focus and I want to be with them as long as possible. It can be done and you will succeed in your endeavour to quit smoking. I will be praying for you David, with the help of God you will have the strength to give up this addiction of smoking. I will also pray for a healling David, I want you to get out of that hospital bed very soon. I've already posted my Sunday prayer but I think I must post one for you today as well. Oh dear David, thank goodness that they were those 'mini strokes' and not a major one...How scared you must be....See, God wasn't ready for you yet, he still needs you here on earth and that is blessing for Vera, your family, friends and all who love you or have been comforted by you...I wish you a speedy recovery and know you can kick the smoking thing...When you do, whenever you're around the smell after that it makes you feel ill. Honest, it happens.. I'm not writing here, as you know, anymore for other reasons, in fact tonight is my first venture in here in about a week....I've read this and another sad one from Eagle Hawk.
