Are You Crying From Your Grave, Mr Charlton Heston
Are you crying from your grave
O holy one star of such
BEN HUR THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
Supporter of gun control
Gun Control Act of 1968
You blessed it 'cause of Kennedy
And after Robert was murdered
You testified that it would prevent
The murder of Americans
You promised to stand by Tom Laughlin
Remember: responsible gun control
And then, hypocrite, the NRA
The goddam president of NRA
And you had the audacity to say:
I had made some political mistakes
O holy one, you made grievous mistakes:
Opposed to laws restricting guns
Opposed to 5 days waiting period
Opposed to limit 1 gun per month
Opposed to mandatory trigger locks
Opposed to 1994 ban on assault weapons
'From my cold, dead hands'
(That's not even yours
But you're known for it)
Your rhetoric massacres children
Your senseless words kill all innocence
Your cold, dead heart beats to a dead beat
What happened, Mr Charlton Heston?
You've left a legacy of murder
That damned Satan is so damn proud of
May you rest in peace with the victims
Charlton Heston had changed his political colours so often that he has no tears to cry, even if the entire humanity perishes… Good poem. Timely. Top score.
Poet Menon, I liked him as an actor. But totally despised him as President of NRA! Thx so much for the top score.
Please elaborate because I'm not quite clear about your response. Thx, Douglas.
