Approaching the End Point. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

As every moment is over,
lives approach the end point
nearer and nearer.
Thus life is seeping away
like water from an earthen
pitcher.

At some point of time
life would become lifeless
like the total loss of water
from the pot.
Whatever we have achieved here,
by dint of hard labour,
is sure to be lost.

We brought nothing with birth
and would leave the world
without taking anything that
we earned.
Why fight for every thing and
create foes, violence, vices
till we are burned.

Let us generate love, compassion,
empathy and strive for peace
and co-operation.
Our mode of living
may inspire to cultivate
a kinder life to
the next generation.
