In this society where so much goes on that I abhor
what am I grateful for?
I'm grateful for the aid of relatives, and friends
How'er they help me - though they see life through a different lens
I'm grateful for the many books
That give me wisdom, which others oft overlook
I'm grateful for my humble pension
Which lets me live - and grow - in a manner bewildering to (most) laurentians
I'm grateful to youtubers who've informed me
Of dangers I did not foresee
I'm grateful to the truly independent news
For speaking truth with so much to lose
I'm grateful for the truckers who stood tall
For truth, and liberty - knowing the legacy media's gall
I'm grateful for my low-cost rent
At a time when so many people live in tents
So when I criticize society
Do not think me miserly
I seek only to build
A far better world
Than the one we live in
