As soon as you're born,
you're starting to die.
When you find love,
you're learning to cry.
Every chance taken
is tinged with regret.
Because you can't have it all,
it's a sure bet.
You do what you can,
and hope for the best.
Accept that you did,
that is the test.
You're blessed if your love,
is also your friend.
Every beginning
comes to an end.
The time that we get
may be all that will be.
If there's anything more,
when we get there we'll see.
So appreciate what
you have now and here,
Even if you know
it ends with a tear.
While you can run,
you never can hide,
Because it's within
your demons reside.
They whisper to you
you're just not enough,
And make you afraid
of calling their bluff.
Those thoughts will haunt you
wherever you go.
If you don't stop running,
you never will know.
Take it from me,
it's no way to live.
If you want peace,
you must forgive.
This road that I chose
has taken it's toll.
To where it leads,
is no longer my goal.
I have grown tired,
with no wish to fight,
And I no longer care
to show that I'm right.
I ponder with sadness
at all that I've lost.
Would I do it again
knowing the cost?
It is how it is,
there's no going back.
The light is now fading,
the sky turning black.
Maybe tomorrow
I'll go a new way,
But for now I just want
some soft ground to lay.
Thinking of you,
as I drift off to sleep,
Pray for the Lord,
my soul to keep.
