Appalachian Ladies Poem by Steve Howard

Appalachian Ladies

Rating: 5.0

And the sweet mountain girls.
Those of gentle glances.
Mona Lisa smiles.
Bright rivers of hair.
Cascading to the small of the back.
Patiently, pensively brushed, morning and night.
The poorest, having no perfume,
a touch of vanilla behind each ear.
The stain of wild cherries, upon soft lips.
To feel more feminine, more lovely.
Necessary only to themselves.
Angels in cotton dresses.
Perfection.
