Very nice poem. Those desolate deserted town of nobody. Once a heart beat of life did pound. Enjoyed couple of your poems today. Thanks for sharing.
One tough cookie of a poem Susan. It minded me of someone who once enjoyed childhood, but somewhere along the way disillusionment set in. You have a way of nailing your colours firmly to the mast.
And here... once, long ago, a heartbeat did pound, For somebody Anybody.. In this nobody town, , , , wonderful ending, , , , loved it
Anybody in this nobody town Dare to look up from your dilapidated frown To smile at the vagrants In their homeless compound Built of barely there boxes Where no wishes are found In the well worn wooded paths Where my childhood was found Oh, the expression, the sigh... the beauty of sadness... I'm simply melted.
A very touching poem, searching for someone in the crowd of everyone. Susan keep on writing and soothing the the lonely hearts..
I really enjoyed the grittiness of the reality you portrayed in Anybody...In This Nobody Town. The dialogue paints a bleak picture for any child who would have the misfortune to grow up within its confines. One can easily envision a ghetto-like environment where there is no tomorrow, only the torture of existence that embattles those who must scrounge a livelihood from its streets and back alleyways. Well done!
