Like the visuals in this one Tom, I can see him stood there arms raised shouting the out the odds. nicely done.
The priest became the Pharoah because he figured that the star Sirius (the Dog Star) rose above the sun on Midsummer's day. This was the signal for the annual Nile Floods which reached their peak in August. It doesn't happen now, I think mainly since the building of the massive Aswan dam on the Upper Nile.
