This heart wrenching poem is a prime example of why poetry is the most difficult form of writing. Every single word has to be meaningful! And Poet Menon, you've done that! Your poem moved me beyond tears. And reading it while listening to meaningful music, just made it even more powerful!
Let me quote from Shelley, "My heart aches, of hemlock have drunk…', when I recall the sacrifice of the budding geniuses who perished in Tiananmen Square. Thank You Richard.
The extreme sadness overwhelms me when I think of Tiananmen
All the rulers choose to erase that part of history, which is inconvenient to them to live with. Thank you Dr Nehal

Countries are just as false as the governments they represent! And it's disgaceful
People come and people go. So do the ‘governments.' Hardly anyone really cares for the common man on the street.
Our History is made up of persecutions, atrocities and injustice. It is terrible when such a tragedy is overlooked. It is very much in your credit to remind us of it with your very rightful and painfully kind poem. Thank you.
Very true, Sandra. The silence of the democratic nations in the world is horrifying.
Part 4. Or do they no longer believe in democracy?
The Chinese government has erased every last evidence of the stain of blood on their hands, in the Massacre of young students in Tiananmen. But all the world's democracies are looking the other way. For that is more convenient for them.
Short but meaningful. It leaves a powerful impact on the reader despite brevity. Five star!
Today is the Anniversary day of the Tiananmen Massacre. The Chinese government have demolished the commemorative pillar of the Massacre in Hong Kong a few months back.
Thank You, Nosheen for reading this poem and the nice words on it.
Hi Nosheen, I am so happy to read whatever you write. Even this tiny note is so poetic. Though my heart is heavy when I think of Tiananmen.
I have great pleasure to read your note. Thank You, Nosheen.
I sincerely appreciate the very core of this insightful little poem...Top score!
Thank You, Dillipji. You are the first one to visit this commemorative poem. Thank You for top score
A great poem in remembrance for the lives lost....
Thank You, Miss Grace. I still remember those days in 1989, when we sat glued to radio, tv and newspapers to know the latest. And when the Chinese Tanks moved in we all died several deaths in our hearts,
When the students moved to Tiananmen Square requesting more democratic self determination, the world looked up to them, for ushering democracy in all authoritarian societies. But the communist China's battle tanks moved to kill everybody. Another Jalianwala Bagh massacre.
Grateful to you grace.
