Another Poem For Me. Poem by MIRAK Montiel

Another Poem For Me.

Another Poem for Me
and everything that breaks me silently

Beautiful as you are,
and lonely as my night—
they go together,
like the rain and this poetry.

Who can save me from me
when there's nobody to reach for help?
I pray for things to change,
but not much has
since the day I started
believing in better days.

I smile when no one sees,
because no one cares
about my happiness.

Another poem for me,
and everything
that breaks me
silently—
between the things I don't see
but always feel.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is a hauntingly beautiful exploration of loneliness, inner turmoil, and the search for hope. The comparison of the speaker's beauty and loneliness to 'the rain and this poetry' is a powerful metaphor for the way pain and creativity can be intertwined. The line 'Who can save me from me when there's nobody to reach for help? ' is a poignant expression of the speaker's feelings of isolation and desperation. The admission that 'not much has' changed despite praying for better days adds a sense of resignation and frustration. The image of smiling 'when no one sees, because no one cares about my happiness' is both heartbreaking and relatable, highlighting the feeling of being invisible and unimportant. The final lines, 'Another poem for me, and everything that breaks me silently— between the things I don't see but always feel, ' suggest a sense of ongoing struggle and the importance of creative expression as a means of coping. The poem is a powerful exploration of the complexities of mental health, loneliness, and the human experience.
