Anon: Above The Manor Two Cranes A-Dancing 鶴舞樓頭玉笛弄殘仙子月 鳳翔臺上紫簫吹斷美人風

Witty Chinese Couplet
- by Anon
- Translated by Frank C Yue

Above the manor two Cranes a-dancing;
All the Fairies' dear crescent Moon
By the Jade Flute's sad notes is being melted.

Up from the terrace the Phoenix soaring;
Beauty's soothing breeze by mournful tunes
Of the Purple Flute is, alas, truncated!

巧對佚名
