if you're not aware, bates is also the author of " america the beautiful, " which many of us americans would prefer for our national anthem instead of " the star-spangled banner." a while back realizing i knew nothing about her, i decided to do a little reading and found it interesting. in these lyrics, " the heresy of youth" is a powerful and original phrase embedded in them, embedded in the imagery taken from the book of revelation. -gk
