Very rarely is it indeed
That anyone amongst us learns incredible truths
Opens unseen windows into the essence of their being
Grows into a more remarkable form of their prior self

Thanks Bill. It's not as if many of us seek out hard times in order to gain things from them, but they certainly do have that effect.

Mister Smith (Smiff) I am impressed. Resiliency demonstrated through adversity. Thoughts roll around and you wind up with a smile. Thank you. (said the little fat, cross-eyed stammerer)

Sometimes adversity (more than anything else) is what shapes us and makes us grow

The trick is to not let the flame of tribulation warp and twist you into something barely recognizable. Skillfully written, and poignant.

Thank you Nosheen. Even the worst of times can bring about positive changes. It may not seem so at the time, but when looked at in retrospect it becomes more clear

It is certainly like that.. But most of us, unfortunately, break during the hard times.. If only we could fight it out.. Thanks for sharing Mike..

The breaking is part of the growth Souren. When people excersize their muscles they are in essence breaking them down. Tearing and injuring them to the point of pain. The body's response is to build them back stronger. This poem touches on the idea that the mind works much in the same way

As true a statement as there is. Most of us have not had perfect lives. At 58, I have had my share of bad times, including horror and although I often think I could do without those memories, the strength they have built in me is priceless. I hope that at only 24, your 'future growth inducing bad times' are limited to those which can help you grow, but are endurable and non-lethal. Great insight and nicely written as well!

Whatever those times turn out to be, I plan to endure them as best I can. Then reap the rewards of their fending off. I think maybe it gets easier to confront the hard times as we grow more accustom to dealing with them. They are building blocks
