Edgar Allan Poe didn't write this poem. It was written by Mathew Franklin Whittier, who made the mistake of naively sharing the poem with Poe in January,1842 along with 'The Raven.' Poe changed the girl's name, and re-wrote the last four lines to make the poem macabre.
Such a greates Beauty this immortal poem by Edgar Allan Poe, this immortal gem, this greatest Masterpiece! Still myriads of Stars be given to this immortal Gem
One of my favorite writers! Eventhough his soul was filled with sadness and despair, he's left us some amazing masterpieces. Such is Annabel Lee, which is so sadly-beautifully written!
Poe describes delusion of identity where the grief leads to loss of self. This kind of love shouldn't be romantisized nor promoted. Poe was what he was and lead a difficult and disturbing life. May we find peace in love and loss.
The best poem for me. It is more then poem it is tune of syllables and letter combinations
Thank you for posting this poem which has stood the test of time….this poem is composed of simple words, a great lesson to all that a great poem need not be overdressed 😊

This pain filled share is reminiscent of Dante Alighieri's love for Beatrice whom Dante loved more 'in death than when she lived'!
CON QUE Romanticismo `escribe con tanta inquietud UN MARAVIOSO ESCRITOR DEL PASADO EDGAR PO!
