Yes, guilt can be so controlling and many will use it against you. But, you got it right and stood up for yourself in this piece. God will convict you if you do something to be guilty over. It's not anyone else's job. Great writing!
I don't think I can say it any better than David, just keep on realizing that you don't have accept anyone's guilt. Let them own their own guilt and you my dear poet, you keep on writing. I enjoyed this piece very much and I look forward to reading more of your poetry. Cheers to you Pam--Melvina--

The line that really struck home with me was, one day I realized it was not my guilt but theirs that I took that pushed you away. You said it so beautifully. Very true, not your guilt but theirs.
