This is a remarkable poem! What risks you took in expanding your imagery! I read it a SECOND TIME, and found that stopping at the line IT WAS CENTURIES AGO made a perfect vignette for me. The imagery goes: Wine like gum slipping down trees is paralleled by milk of Milky Way slipping through space. That's a pair despite the vast difference in scale. Zephyr issues winds which filter down to earth and swell of sails of ships. And through it all is the sound of the fabled nightingale. This is visionary verse! Human consciousness expanded to embrace the vistas gods and goddesses routinely see. But alas it was centuries ago.
