Rating: 5.0

When the night is long and my sleep is fretful
I go to a place where my mind flows free -
A distant shore where the wind blows softly
Sweet music of the ancients engulfs me;

Linda, what a beautiful relaxing poem that whisks you off to a far flung paradise. The imagery of a distant shore, a breeze blowing off from the sea and an almost magical place, Atlantis. Beautiful. I loved it. A nice dream away from reality. Thanks for sharing it. David

Ah Linda, this traced a lovely trail to tranquility. Distant shore, soft winds, sweet music - serenity. Atlantis. The sea is the key. All that space, all that scope. Loved the gentle calming effect of this. Genuinely evocative writing. x jim

Not to over-analyse in Freudian fashion, but I am often in ancient settings; various historic moments when my dreams involve Roman and Grecian Empire scenarios. Been known to even speak their languages fluently during my dream status; and although somewhat knowledgeable in Latin, which I studied for a year at College, Greek is...well, during my waking hours, just that...Greek to me. Perhaps there is a Jungian theory of synchronicity...that we are all joined, via a connecting principle that ultimately prevails?

Linda, this poem really stirred something inside me. You've put into words what I sometimes feel and places I sometimes visit. It's very powerful and strong, yet gentle, if you know what I mean. I particularly like the phrase 'sweet music of the ancients engulfs me' - reminds me of the Aborigine 'dreamtime.' This is sheer beauty and will go into my favourites box. Love, Fran xx
