Nandi, the most trusted,
Nandi, the most revered,
Mount of Siva or ‘Vahana'!
Magnificent image of a Bull!
Adorned in front of every Siva temple,
Affectionately seated in front of every Siva Linga!
Nandi as the bull
Is the chief of the Siva ‘Ganas' or Attendants,
The Commander General - ‘Adhikaranandi',
The faithful Guard of Siva,
The Guru of philosophy of Saiva Siddhanta,
That upholds the tradition of pure ‘Bhakti'or love!
Elated and excited i was
To sit before the Nandi image,
To behold the sacred Siva Linga with joy,
To stand with folded hands in exhilaration,
To sing the ‘Shiva Shadakshara Stotra',
In praise of Siva - the Cosmic wonder!
Nandi, the Shiva Vahana according to Shiva Purana is the son of Kashyap and Surabhi. He left Daksha, his Guru following whose despise for Shiva. He earned the blessings of Lord Shiva and became his Vahana. The Nandi idol in the Thanjavur Brihadeswara Temple is said to be the biggest of its kind.
Nandi is the chief attendant of Lord Shiva. You have perfectly described the epic. Ananda Siva Natanam reflects perceptional beauty and perception of devotion. Shiva Shadakshara Stotra purifies mind and gives immense pleasure of perfect perseverance. An excellent poem is very well penned..5 stars, .
