Ananda Siva Natanam 5 - Siva Needs Sakti For Every Dance Move Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Ananda Siva Natanam 5 - Siva Needs Sakti For Every Dance Move

Movement is the quintessence of
The very existence,
The primal act of life,
There is no universe without a movement!
No thought,
No speech,
No action!
Absolutely no experience at all!

Man is a movement,
The journey from birth to death is a movement!
The start from birth is a crying movement,
The cry of pain and misery,
Then, the beguiling laughter,
So momentary, so transitory,
The movement from joy to sorrow- sorrow to joy
They are just deluding movements!

The tiniest ant is a movement,
The largest elephant is a movement,
The little grass is a movement,
The huge banyan tree is a movement,
The creatures of this world constantly move
Towards an objective, a purpose!
A goal of perfection and completeness
A movement towards God!

Who creates this movement?
Who provides the momentum?
Who supplies the vibrant energy?
Who motivates the creations to dance?
It is Sakti!
The Divine energy,
The Vital force,
The Supreme strength!

Sakti alone propels and promotes,
Sakti drives, designs and develops,
Sakti chooses, chases, and chides,
Sakti is always seated in Siva's Consciousness!
Sans Sakti -Siva remains motionless and still.
Siva needs Sakti
To dance, to play, to sport and
To enthrall the world with his Ananda Natanam!

We have listened and read many things about the powers of Lord Shiva but this description is unique. It seeks to unfold another facet of the Lord Shiva and Adi Shakti- the movement in life and universe and its extension to the Classical dance forms. Deeply philosophical which is worth reading again and again. Thanks a lot for this great piece of poetry, Geeta ji.
