An Unplayed Cd Collection Poem by Paula Glynn

An Unplayed Cd Collection

As the years pass
The CD collection grows old
Never played on the stereo
Never heard on the radio
Where once pop hits did hit ears and blow

Pop music acts, rock stars
All singing and dancing
And playing their legendary guitars
The choreography of stage performances
And music videos amazing

But the years don't stop
And musical acts never end
The once popular music
Stored in an old CD collection
That is now never heard

The owner of the deceased CD collection
Glad time doesn't stop
And some memories best forgotten
Best put down to experience
And just being young and foolish

Old music stars opening
Painful memories of the past
Yet some artists to create
Nostalgic remenants
Of lost loves and found loves:

Of friends come and gone
Yet worth gold for their memories
Their cold hearts once shining
With hope for the future
And faith in love and life

That unplayed CD collection
Unlocking times of adventure and wonder
Where Dewberry body spray was used
And Lynx Africa body spray loved
Creating such nostalgia and happiness

Music to be old time jazz
Romantic Rhythm and blues
Fad pop and rock acts five minutes of fame
Country music of the old days
Memories from every song remembered

And most women remember
Their harsh and turbulent teenage years
Where boybands raised the bar of popularity
Teenage girls in love with an image:
An image falsehood in the end

Those boyband albums happily
Forgotten and only living in the past
Teenage years sometimes a blast
Girls and boys the same at heart
Feeling themselves torn in two

Then there are the old jazz albums
Telling of times in mysterious jazz clubs
And parties of sosphication
Those older adult years
Recorded in an unplayed CD collection.
