An Overdose Of Living Poem by Bryan Taplits

An Overdose Of Living

Rating: 4.0

Overwhelming it is
To see this zone,
this space,
The worlds that only my dreams can see,
From the roads once young
on which we all still race
Towards the paths which we all try to flee.
I thought for sure,
In my unraveling world,
when death stopped for me without care,
There was nothing more for me to see
Nor would there ever be-
No pennants left for me to unfurl.
For it was Life that was to be my blessing
I didn't think there was
anything more,
But many Heavens now lay before me
With their celestial and eternal
swinging doors.
I'm now anxious with a mortal's expectation
I feel my earthly flesh pimples pulse and rise
As I push through one of those
unsuspected swinging doors-
And view My paradise.
