The lines in the fifth stanza of your translation - the words between Lizzy and Naresh are BEAUTIFUL to say the least!

If you are interested, I have a recitation album on You Tube, If you type - Malabika Ray and Sadharan Meye, you will find it. There are two more translations on this page. Thanks so much.

It's an interesting story of lost love told in eloquent finesse. Very heartfelt with strong emotions. Thanks for sharing Malabika.

Thank you so much for reading this translation. It is really hard to keep the essence of a poem in translation, and this is written by a Nobel-laureate poet! I am honoured!

I am so glad that you liked the translation from Tagore. You are very right - the poem in Bengali is truly magnificent! I tried, but the original is superb! I am working on another translation right now, hope to share with all of you soon. Geetanjali was already translated by the poet himself, which won the Nobel Prize. It (published by Biswabharati) should be available in bookstores. You may find in Amazon too! Thank you.
