An Old Normal Sin Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

An Old Normal Sin

Rating: 5.0

Why the cry? Why the commotion?
All very pretentious we know
An old sin normalised
Now attract hue and cry
Because exotic body came to the scene

We knew all along it was there
Pretense and lack of will power kept us mute
Many enjoyed it on both sides
For supposed gains derived from it
Some consented for fear and lack of care
Fully aware that there is no protection and escape

Those who refused paid dearly deprivations
Who cared? Who came to their rescue?
Those who spoke out were hushed
Kangaroo panels were falsely set up
Which expectedly absolved the offenders
Granting them more impetus to commit more

Why the cry? Why the commotion?
The game is still on going
Will continue to go on
For the hue and cry of today
Will surely die tomorrow
With one or two scapegoats penalised
To assuage pained nerves
But since no checks will be in place
The act will continue unabated
Sex as a commodity for trade
