We were once lovers long time ago and once before
But, of course that's when she needed me more,
The taste of her was like the finest wine
And to reminisce of that time she was always mine.
When we went to bed she always wore my shirt
She loved my smell she would tease and flirt,
She woke up every morning always next to me
And every breakfast we would share the same cup of tea.
We had the same destination and the same dreams
We waded barefooted together in the same streams,
And whenever her or I were ever amiss
We happily shared the very same kiss.
In the gym and in the garden we'd be sore and wet
And there we would always share the same sweat,
And then we would shower and help each other bathe
Sometimes we'd share the very same razor when we'd shave.
She called and asked me if we could get back together again
She was the woman who I once believed truly was my twin,
But, a relit cigarette never tastes the same
Nor never does rekindling with an old flame.
