An Ode To Sleep Poem by H Seeking

An Ode To Sleep

Divine blissful slumber
Not for plebians asunder
Promised by the Gods
Facing all odds
Morpheus, Somnos, Hypnos, Nyx
Tis a promise for ills to fix

Sandman, Dymphna and Rip Van Winkle
Watch me, in their eye a twinkle
Glowing embers, fiery tempers
As it is taken from me
Forever by cunning ye

With one breath thou taketh away
While the other giveaway
And grant the boon to be
Blissfully unaware
And without a care

Now I am entangled
And forever mangled
In thy lovely thoughts
With butterflies and moths
While the whole wide world
Sleeps like sloths
